You breathe deeper as the stress and worry begin to evaporate. Some say the air is charged with positive ions from the winds blowing across endless miles of open water. Others say the ancients came to this place to visit the Goddess of Abundance and over the centuries the positive energy just built until it bathes each visitor with it's residue. Who knows the true story? Does it really matter? Just stand in the sun as the wind rushes past you and understand that on Isla Mujeres, things that troubled you are left behind. You are stepping into a paradise designed by nature to restore your soul with greens and blues and golden sunsets. Your only task while you are here is to relax, enjoy, let the salt water lift your body, and the clean air lift your mind. Enjoy the food, the smiling faces, the community of kindness. Explore and delight in what you find in the magical pueblo. 
Ferries are modern hydrofoils that move quickly. The ride takes about 20 minutes. The boats are large and the bay is normally calm so the trip is pleasant. Sit upstairs on the open deck if it's sunny. The views are incredible. The wind will blow so hold onto your hat! There is normally a musician or two playing an instument and singing. Chances are you'll hear Guantanamera and a couple of English language songs. The artists are all hombres sincero and do their very best to please the audience. Some are quite good. At the end of the ride, they politely ask for tips. Please tip them. They do not get paid to entertain and the tips are their only wages. A staff member will come around during your trip to see if you want to purchase a drink or snack. The prices reflect the fact that you are thirsty and that is the only thing to drink until you get to Isla Mujeres. Locals politely shake their heads and pass up the overpriced goodies. HINT: There is an OXXO convenience store right before you get on the ferry. Stop in and get a hot coffee or cold drink. Pick up a bag of chips or a packaged sandwich if you need food or water. Prices are normal and they always wear smiles. One difference between the two is that Ultramar has routes that head directly into the hotel zone. Jetway doesn't. Both run car ferries if you rented a car for your trip.
